Us Americans use the term "roommates"
The Brits say "flatmates"
Anyone here who speaks English generally knows the British version, and automatically ask if I share a room with somebody.
Hmmm... good point.
Us Americans also do not generally refer to our apartments as flats. Therefore "apartment-mate" does seem like a big tongue twister.
But those Brits actually do make a good point, if you are "roommates" shouldn't you be actually sharing a room? If you aren't sharing a room, then what are you called in "American-English" terms?
So what is it:
Apartment mates?
Flatmates?
Piso-mates (little spanglish for you all)
I honestly don't know, but the Brits might actually be on to something here!
