If you haven't noticed, it's Christmas!! and everything smells like broccoli casserole. Christmas morning came and went in the Hennick household without any presents, cookies or merriment. The only thing that got up early to see what Santa brought was our four-legged friend Lucy. Everyone else slept until around noon, even NANCE! I guess that's what happens when Christmas Eve stretches into the wee hours of the morning (2AM!!!) due to the fact that Nance had to clean every inch of Grandma's countertop. But this is all mundane news compared to the most EXCITING present of Christmas 2008... it wasn't wrapped in a pretty bow and it wasn't waiting under the Christmas tree. It wasn't bought at a fancy store and it didn't cost much, well it cost Tom-100 a lot!! The best present of all, according to my wise and seasoned mother, is MEGHAN! Back from Spain, she is here causing as much trouble as ever, singing songs about New York when Tom-100 wouldn't drive by Yankee Stadium, giving Nance the business about her driving and giving Lucy all the discarded Christmas wrapping as her little heart desired. Some highlights of the morning/ afternoon included the moment when Mom realized that she wrapped dad's OLD earmuffs and put them in his stocking, or when mom opened a sweater from dad that she already bought, or maybe when we got to watch dad's new picture DVD. I won't go into the detail, as not to ruin the surprise for Poopsie.
Overall, the holidays are going smoothly, but Poopsie and company ditched us for the first time ever. So we are all by our lonesome, in a dark, quiet, house. Well it is dark except for the fact that all the lights are on and quiet besides the fact that everyone is talking, the TV and radio is on and the timer is going off because Nance is pretending she can't hear it. We are currently watching Elf, the greatest Christmas movie ever invented, and Lucy is prancing around in her Mrs. Claus outfit. Everyone is still wearing their pajamas and Holly is busy texting Jimmy Wu, even though she will claim that she is not. The Christmas tree is lit and all the presents are strewn across the floor. Lucy has gotten a hold of Dad's earmuffs, my socks and a lot of bows. We need Poopsie to come over and distract her with his witty personality and dashing looks.
Moving along, I would like to alert Meghan's faithful readers to another exciting newsflash... it's Hanukkah! Good thing Tom-100 is a very diligent Jew and has unburied the menorah this year. We've even lit it twice! And that is just another reason why we need the Poopsinator to come over and set this household straight. POOPSIE WHERE ARE YOU !!!!!!?????
Well now Nance is here, wearing one of her famous Christmas sweaters, the one with the glittery presents and snowflakes, you know the one, or you might not know the one because that descriptions sounds like one of the seventeen sweaters she owns. WHAT A HOOT. She's in the the kitchen kvetching about how she needs help and nobody is helping her, and I can't disagree. Holly is now on her computer iming Jimmy Wu, even though she will claim that she is not, Meghan is stretching her arches and reading a magazine, I, of course, am busy guest blogging on this very exclusive publication and Lucy is passed out on the floor (too much eggnog) and Tom-100 is hiding in his bedroom. Anywho, this has been a real hoot (ALLLLRIGHT?) but I really should be rejoining the world of socialization. Blogging, as great as it is, has made me into an antisocial family member for the past 30 minutes or so. So while this has been a great opportunity for me to fill you in on the innerworkings of a Hennick Christmas. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, leave a comment or simply pop on by! We'll share some of our candy canes with you people.
BYEBYE!
FELIZ NAVIDAD!
FELIZ HANUKKAH!
BESOS!!!!!!!
Love, the one and only,
Jamie C. Hennick
